I hated to leave the beautiful Palm Beach RV park, but it was time to move on. Next destination: Jacksonville and St. Augustine, 250 miles up the east coast. Our growing dashboard family watched as the miles clicked by.

In late afternoon we reached Flamingo Lake, another Sun-operated RV park. It was nice enough, if a bit crowded; but nothing was going to live up to Palm Beach. Fortunately I had scored a premium lakeside spot at the end of a long row, shady with a private deck leading to a small beach.

The deck had seen better days, as indicated by the hazard tape attached to the railing, but we had no intention of trying out the rickety wooden swings. Splinter city!

We took a rest day at the park, walking all around the sizeable lake, taking note of the various common areas. Along the way we encountered a watery local resident.

Big gate. Little gate.

We walked out through the expansive front gate to take a stroll alongside the park. After a bit of walking we found another, smaller gate and saw a couple of residents using it to enter and exit on their golf carts.

We came to the end of the RV park and found a large fenced area that turned out to be a sizeable solar farm. The gate wasn't locked, so naturally Mike had to investigate.

On our way back, we discovered a smaller extension of the RV park across the road. It had smaller trees, a tiny pond, and generally looked cheaper. Long-term residents?

As we finished our walk, we stopped for a moment to admire a local's whimsical inter-park transport.
