Vancouver 2001 |
Vancouver
is a walking town, brimming with tiny restaurants and shops just waiting to be
discovered. Our investigation was limited, since the skating events took
up most of our time during our week's stay. We often walked the
eight blocks between our hotel and General Motors Place, taking different routes to explore the
city's offerings. We returned to certain businesses where the people
were friendly. And we did take in a few of the local tourist
attractions. |

| Our hotel, the Chateau Granville, was a four-star facility located in a slightly seedy neighborhood. | The city sparkles at night. No power shortage here! | ||||||

| Shady character in sunglasses, across the street from the local adult bookstore. | Bondage, anyone? | An interesting city, Vancouver, and that's no bull. | |||||

| Sunrise reflects off glass-fronted buildings and brightens the dome of B.C. Place Stadium. | A building mirrors its neighbors. | ||||||

| Spilling over from Seattle, Starbucks is well-represented in Vancouver.... | ...but outnumbered by the ubiquitous internet cafes, almost one on every block. | Open-air flower marts brighten the streets. | |||||

| Vancouver seems obsessed with pizza-by-the-slice. We found all these restaurants on ONE BLOCK near our hotel! | |||||||
